Golf at River Plantation
The Golf Course
At River Plantation, golfers experience new play challenges constantly because of the
three courses you will find here -- the Augusta, Biloxi and Charleston courses. Often you
can pick out which nines you want to play, but sometimes it’s set by the pro shop. On
Saturday mornings, for example, golfers start on all three nines in order to keep up the
pace of play, which is usually very fast on this course.
The lofty trees that line this championship course turn the fairways into narrow pathways
for your ball. It all makes for a challenging round that will test your use of all your clubs
and your ability to manage the course. For many golfers, the creeks that run parallel to
fairways and sometimes cross them will require making lay-up shots along the way.
You’ll have lots of chances here to lose your ball in the hazards. According to the head
golf professional Russell Amason, there are some par 5s that the distance hitters can reach in two shots, but they run the risk of landing in the water.
Greens and tees are kept in tip-top shape for the meticulous golfer. There is Tiff Eagle
Bermuda on the greens and Tiff Sport Bermuda on the tees. Some greens have also
been elevated recently.

The golf course is open for general play Tuesday through Sunday at 8 a.m. The course
is closed on Mondays. The pro shop is open daily except Mondays from 7 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. in winter; 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in spring and fall; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in summer.
Tee times are taken for weekends starting at 7 a.m. Wednesdays and for weekdays one
week in advance.
Golf Course Fees
Guests of members can play for $30 on weekdays and $50 on weekends. Carts cost $25
(two players) and $12.50 (one player) for 18 holes.
The club charges $15 per person a year to maintain a handicap.
Private cart monthly fees are $35 for storage and $55 to use the trails.
Bag storage costs $10 a month. Lockers are $12 a month.
